Leavenworth or Bust

After Glacier we took off to Idaho, excited to be spending the night in a new state. Our dreams were dashed when we actually GOT to Idaho. Our short trip to Idaho started off a little confusing when we realized we were in the state, but that it was the ONLY state we've driven through without a welcome sign on the highway. We would have forgiven them that if the rangers in the state forest office were willing to help us find a campsite. They told us all the parks were full and we should have reserved one, and then told us that they were all first-come, first-served.
We got right back into 90 west and stopped at the first state park in Washington. The park rangers there couldn't have been friendlier and set us up to camp near Leavenworth. So we set out across the amber waves of grain:

Leavenworth used to be a logging town but when logging in the area started to decline the town was in danger of collapsing. The townspeople all banded together and transformed the town into a Bavarian village. We camped in the National Forest at Lake Wenatchee and spent the next day exploring the town.
We had a great German lunch and a beer at the München Haus before heading off for Seattle.
